Off the edge

On the cliff he stands,
off the edge he peeks,
fear he doesn't understand
is whitening his cheeks.

He is afraid to take a step,
to take a plunge into the void,
for if his wings are weak,
he won't be able to land.

Legs start moving,
the body follows,
he is plunging,
into the depths,

the depths of his mind,
the depths of his history,
for this is the only way
to not end up being sorry.
